Abstract:
For many companies tool classification is far from being common practice, although the very nature of a standard would suggest it would be. Ideally, the most suitable requirement ISO 26262 brings IT and other departments closer together. By means of two examples, it can be seen that tool classification not only offers safety but also economic advantages for the company.
